What is Holy Cross About?

Holy Cross has always been known as a place where God has been alive and “real” in the lives of the members and friends who call Holy Cross their spiritual home.

Christian faith is not just something we believe in our minds, but it’s what we live as we interact with each other and with the world in which we live.

The ministry of Holy Cross is based firmly on the Word of God which guides every aspect of our ministry.

Mission Statement

The Mission of Holy Cross Lutheran Church is

to make disciples by CONNECTING people to Christ and each other,

NURTURING faith, and SERVING in Christian love.

We believe that our faith relationship with God is going to have direct impact on our daily lives. It will be obvious in the ways that we treat one another, the energy we put into nurturing our relationship with God, and our desire to bring God’s Kingdom to this part of His world through serving others and improving the lives of those in our community.

Here are some of the things that make Holy Cross a unique place.

New Congregation

Holy Cross is extending our ministry to the area north of Holy Cross through our East Hamilton Campus and the mission work of Pastor Jon van Sliedrecht. CLICK HERE for more information.

Serving

Our involvement in the community through an emphasis called “Don’t Just GO to Church; BE the Church.” We are involved in lots of programs that directly impact our neighborhood, community, and the world. Programs we support include:

FAME Medical Missions;
Kids Against Hunger;
Habitat for Humanity;
Project Christmas Child;
Lutheran Child and Family Services;
Lutherwood Children’s Home;
The Sharing Place food and clothing pantry;
Lutheran Disaster Response;
LCMS World Relief;
and others.

We also send Mission Teams to areas around the country to assist with disaster recovery and rebuilding efforts.

Small Groups

Holy Cross encourages CONNECTING with one another through our Small Group Ministry which are gatherings of Christians around God’s Word to reflect on God’s involvement in our lives and to encourage our walk with God. CLICK HERE for more information

Youth Ministry

Holy Cross is deeply invested in Youth Ministry to encourage our young people in Middle School, High School, and College, to explore their faith, live out their faith, and to encourage Christian friendships with each other. CLICK HERE for more information.

School Ministry

Holy Cross Lutheran School is a ministry to nurture our children both educationally and spiritually. Children learn that God is intimately involved in our lives and the world through us. The school ministry nurtures, not just the child, but the whole family. The curriculum is culturally relevant  with an emphasis on “excellence in Christian education.” Enrollment is over 300 children from 2 year-old preschool to 8th grade. Worship

Our worship of God at Holy Cross includes a variety of worship styles and music genres. Sermons are relevant and Biblically based. The whole worship experience is alive, dynamic, and spirit-filled.

Some of the recent “events” at Holy Cross during the last year.

● “The Story” - Many joined with us as we walked through “The Story” and were blessed by the unity we shared as we studied the whole Bible together in an integrated way.

● The weekly attendance in our Sunday Study of the Bible was by far the largest ever, and many families reported that “The Story” encouraged them to initiate family devotions.

● Our Creative Praise contemporary worship at 11:00 a.m. provides another venue for bringing praise and worship to God as our worship attendance continues to grow.

● Pastor Jon van Sliedrecht has joined our staff as our Mission Developer for the East Hamilton Campus of Holy Cross, which is extending our ministry to the newly developed communities to the north in Hamilton Country.

● Our school continues growing in enrollment as well as serving as an effective outreach to our community, as over 25% of our children have no church home.

● Our involvement with the community and the world through our “Don’t Just GO to Church; BE the Church” ministries continues to develop into a life-changing experience, both for those who serve, as well as those who receive the benefit of our service.

● We had a wonderful response to the Ministry Volunteer Fair we offered a couple weeks ago to encourage the involvement of all God’s people in helping to CONNECT, NURTURE AND SERVE.
