Organization and Staff

Holy Cross is led by a Voters Representative Board, which consists of a President, a Vice President, a Secretary, a Treasurer, and 3 additional members, all elected by the congregation at Voters Assembly meetings.

Serving as our “board of directors”, it’s the job of the VRB to determine the outcomes and goals that the church wants to achieve, set broad policy about how they may be attained, and monitor progress and activities.

They lead the process to make divine calls to pastors, and hire key staff members to lead ministry teams.  These ministry teams are free to form action groups and leadership boards to carry out their assignments.

Rev. John Sattler

has been the Lead Pastor of Holy Cross since March 1992, and serves as our spiritual leader and as the chief executive officer of the congregation.

He attended Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana; Concordia Junior College, Ann Arbor, Michigan; Concordia Senior College, Ft. Wayne, Indiana; and received a Master of Divinity degree from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri, in 1979. He served previous parishes in Iowa and Northwest Indiana, and his family includes his wife, Meg, 4 grown children, and two grandchildren.

Pastor Sattler also leads the Resources Ministry Team, which concerns itself with properties, volunteer care, finance and technology.

Rev. David McClean has been the Assistant Pastor of Holy Cross since January 2007.

He attended Concordia University, River Forest, IL; and received a Master of Divinity degree from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri, in 1986. He served previous parishes in Illinois and Indiana, and his family includes his wife, JoAnne, and 3 children.

Pastor McClean leads the Outreach Ministry Team, which concerns itself with outreach, personal care, off-campus ministries and missions, the Youth Ministry Team, responsible for all aspects of our Youth Ministry.

Scott Jung, DCE has served as our Faith Life Director since 2001.

He is a graduate of Concordia University, Seward, Nebraska. He previously served a parish in Pennsylvania, and his family includes his wife, Carrie, and a daughter

Mr. Jung is responsible for the Faith Life Ministry Team, which concerns itself with spiritual care, small groups, and all aspects of Christian Education.

Jon van Sliedrecht, Pastor has served as our Mission Developer of our East Hamilton Campus since 2012.

He is a graduate of Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, and previously served at parishes in Orlando, FL, and Cederburg, WI. He came to Holy Cross in 2012 as the Mission Developer of our East Hamilton Campus of Holy Cross. His family includes his wife, Becky, and two daughters.

Paul Groth has served as our Director of Worship since 2005.

He is a graduate of Concordia Universtiy, River Forest, Illinois.  He previously served congregations in Michigan and Indiana, and his family includes his wife Vicki and and grown children.

Paul leads the Worship Ministry Team, which concerns itself with lay ministry, worship and music.

Michelle Searcy has served as our Church & School Administrator since 2002.

She joined our staff in August 2002, and her family includes her husband Tim and 2 children.

Michelle leads the Finance Ministry Team

Kenton (Kent) Scheiwe is our Faith Life Encourager.

Kent joined our staff in the fall of 2006 as our Faith Life Encourager His primary role is to assist members in their Faith Life to ensure their growth in faith and the use of their Spiritual Gifts. Kent and his family were charter members of Holy Cross.

His family includes his wife, Susan, and 4 daughters.

Rev. Norman Elling is our Emeritus Pastor.

He previously served congregations in Illinois and New York. He received the Masters of Divinity degree from Concordia Theological Seminary, Springfield, Illinois and retired in 1994.  His family includes his wife, Selma and 3 grown children.

Doris Gill is our Church Secretary.

Doris joined our staff in May 2008 as our Church Office Secretary. She has been married to her husband, Monte, since since 2006 and has been a member at Holy Cross since 2005.

Michelle Wiseley is our Director of Development.

Michele joined our staff in August 2010 as the Director of Development. She and her husband David, are the parents of 3 children.

Susan Muhl is responsible for Staff Support.

Susan joined our staff in June 2000 and is primarily responsible for Staff Support and Accounts Payable. She and her husband Jim, are graduates of Purdue University and are the parents of three children. They are also charter members of Holy Cross.

Mike Short is our Properties Manager.

Mike joined our staff in 2008 as our properties manager, leads the Properties Ministry Team, and is responsible for all aspects of the campus and its facilities. Having come to Holy Cross from the architectural world, he and his wife, Marcie, have been members of Holy Cross since 2003, and have 2 boys.

Karen Geiger is our School Principal

Karen joined our staff in June 2009 as the Principal of our School. She and her husband Duane, are the parents of 4 children and have been members at Holy Cross since 1990. She leads our School Ministry Team
