Summary of the week: “Our salvation is not based on works but by grace through faith in Christ.” However, James 2:26, says “As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.”
Camp Lakeview is expanding with a new lake, village lodge, new cabins, bath houses, and worship and recreation facilities. These structures will “Let the children come” Matthew 19:24
Rain tried to impede our work. However, we put up the walls for two cabins with windows and one layer of siding. During the rain, we framed walls for two other cabins and stained over 190 4X8 sheets of siding. While the men were doing all this, Rosie and Jan were cooking up the vittles. Three meals a day for over 30 people in camp. Without them we had no cooks.
Above all, God was at work every hour. We had devotions every morning and evening. These sessions really put a circle around why our work was important. We were building structures that will allow more children to meet Jesus and make a part of their lives. The staff at Camp Lakeview are dedicated to this mission. What an emotional uplift this whole week had on all of us. A job well done!
Thanks to Pastor McClean for initiating the idea to do this project. We did leave a plaque (thanks to Lynn Hoeltke) noting Holy Cross participation in the building project.
