Don’t Just GO to Church; BE the Church
As a part of our Discipleship Process, Holy Cross Lutheran Church encourages growth in faith and discipleship by investing in opportunities for God’s people to serve the community through various ministry opportunities. We provide weekends periodically where all God’s people are encouraged to “Not Just GO to Church, but BE the Church” by addressing various community needs. We do that because Scripture is very clear that we grow spiritually AS we reach out to others and minister to their needs. Jesus said: “Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.” Matthew 25:40.
In an effort to BE the church in our area, many different kinds of serving events are offered, including things like...
- Landscaping and painting at Lutheran Child and Family Services
- Construction work at Trinity House
- Cooking, deep cleaning, landscaping, and contractor work at three Shepherd Community facilities
- Packaging food for children in countries throughout the world through “Kids Against Hunger”
- Landscaping at Westminster North
- Packaging medicines and other onsite clean-up and maintenance at FAME (a world medical evangelism organization)
- Coordinating an event with the school and Miller’s Merry Manor: Castleton Assisted Living
- Conducting a canned food drive during Lent for the Sharing Place called “Bring your Can to Church”
It is hoped that as many of our members and friends as possible are involved in BEing Jesus to others. The community is invited to join us as we gather together to make a lasting difference.
“Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all.” Mark 10:44-45
