The 2018 CCDA is in the books! It’s one of my favorite nights! Love seeing the interaction, the joy, and people living generously purchasing each other’s creations of Chili and Dessert all for the sake of building God’s kingdom through Awestruck! 31 different chilis, 50 desserts (and they were impressively all different without having to let many know what we already have covered. The youth help was great as many of them kept asking me, “what can I do to help?” Many stayed afterwards to help with cleanup, as did parents. Michele Miller and Rachel Nessia Grelle were incredible directors, Kimberley Kim Gading Reece always asking “what else ya need? ” and many other HCLC family wanting to do there part. In my 8 years of CCDA’s, it was the greatest attended event of all time with 193 people! Congrats to Eric Frash for winning the popular vote and the Golden Pot Of Goodness, beating out Nick Hanania who impressively got 3rd, and 2nd place going to Tyler Grogan for his “This Will Gro-gan Hair On Your Chest Chili”. Congrats to Kathy Megazzi and Larry Edward Megazzi for winning the Judge’s Favorite! And for Joanne Streeter and Liz Eichelberger, who’s desserts topped $300! Thanks to Abbie Stancato for getting the mic working, Ross Acton for being in the sound booth most of the time, and every single chef and baker!! Thanks to Foxgardin, Sundaes, and Sunrise Bakery for their donations! And the Small Group Leadership Team ROCKED IT as well! Thanks to our judges Mary Mohr, Tim Walbridge, and Mike Woods! My favorite parts of the night include seeing the youth serve with smiles the entire time, some from 12 Noon until 9, the amazing group of parents that helped clean up the gym, the creativity that went into decorating each chef’s placement, Christian camaraderie, and mystery item two Dilly Bars going to $50!
And now for the moment you guys have been waiting for. With a matching gift of $2500, and a goal of $6000, a goal that was highly optimistic… we raised $7023 AFTER EXPENSES!!
If you went, please share your experience (and include photos!)
I can’t thank God enough and the wonderful HCLC community for making this event everything it was supposed to be! Well done, good and faithful servants!!
