Lutheran Schools Week Guest Presenter

Lutheran Schools Week 2017 – Guest Presenter

Heather Choate DavisWe are pleased to announce that one of the most sought-after theologian, author, and speaker will be joining us here at Holy Cross during Lutheran Schools Week, January 21-25, 2017.

Heather Choate Davis authored the book “Loaded Words” from which our sermon series by the same name was drawn last year. Heather will speak in worship, during FaTHoM Sunday, to our youth groups, at a PTO gathering, to the children in school, and for our FaTHoM Wednesday session.

Watch Heather’s InterviewShe will also speak that week at Zion Lutheran, New Palestine, St John Lutheran School, Calvary Lutheran School, as well as to the central Indiana Lutheran pastors.

With a master’s degree in theology, she has written books that go deep in the realm of theology, but she also writes in laymen’s terms to make these truths relevant to all, especially those new to the faith. She has written on how she became a Lutheran through a Lutheran School, and some of the issues that new parents face in raising their little ones in Christian faith. Heather is engaging, relevant, and informative in her writing and in her presentations.

Heather Choate Davis is an author, speaker, liturgist, creator of The Renaissance ServiceTM, creative director for LINC L.A., and co-founder of icktank. In 1994, she came to faith at a Lutheran church where her son had just started Kindergarten: her conversion story is told in the book Baptism by Fire. In 2013, she received her MA in Theology from Concordia University in Irvine. She speaks on a wide range of topics that serve the Church: on helping people understand sin in the 21st-century using Luther’s image of Man Turned in On Himself; on freeing 12 hard bible words—Loaded Words—from their baggage; and on losing the gift of vocation to a transcript-driven world (Elijah & the SAT), and on how the first psalm can teach us everything we’ll ever need to know about how to live a happy life—and help our children do the same. Heather is on the Board of Directors of the PSW District of the LCMS, the Great Commission Institute, and the Alumni Board of CUI. She is delighted that her first trip to Indiana will be in the service of Lutheran Schools!

She lives in Mar Vista, CA and has her MA in Theology from Concordia University, Irvine. She blogs about faith and culture at and occasionally tweets @faithinwords

Do you have family or friends who wonder about the value of Christian faith? Heather will speak to their heart in a profound way. Invite them to join you!
