Holy Cross Lutheran School provides a Christ-centered, nurturing ministry for children and their families, with an emphasis on academic excellence.

Enrollment eligibility for a class at Holy Cross Lutheran School is based upon a child’s age on September 1 of the school year being registered for, and/or the child’s developmental level. Early enrollment (children younger than the age requirement for a specific program) will not be granted for children in preschool through the first grade. Children may, however, be older than the stated age for a given program, due to parent/teacher assessment of developmental level and program appropriateness.

Application and enrollment information for the upcoming school year is made available in January. Open enrollment for new students begins in mid-January, following re-enrollment of current students and their siblings. The number of new students accepted is dependent upon the number of current students returning. Class sizes are limited, so we maintain a waiting list once a class is full. The waiting list will be contacted in order if openings occur.

Admissions Policy

Holy Cross Lutheran School admits students of any race, color, national or ethnic origin to all rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic or other school-administered programs.

You are encouraged to visit Holy Cross Lutheran School while classes are in session, visit with the administrator, and ask questions before applying for admission. Appointments can be made by calling the school office at (317) 826-1234.

Application Process

Applications may be picked up in the school office beginning in early January.  Deadlines for early enrollment will be stated in the application packet.  In order for enrollment to be granted at Holy Cross Lutheran School, the following needs to be completed:

    1. Completed Application for Enrollment packet received in the school office
    1. Enrollment fee paid
    1. Parent and/or student interview with the Administrator/Teacher/Administrative Assistant (dependent upon the student’s grade level)
    1. Immunizations and health records as required by the state of Indiana have been received.
    1. Transfer students should be in good standing at their previous school and transcripts from previous school received (for transfer students enrolling in 1st-8th grades)
    1. Incoming students in grades Kindergarten and above may be requested to take a placement test
  1. Birth certificate on file (prior to the first day of school)

Tuition and Fees

Costs incurred by Holy Cross Lutheran School, including staff salaries, materials, crafts, field trips, student gifts and special events are off-set by enrollment fees, tuition, individual donations, fundraising and the congregation of Holy Cross Lutheran Church.

2019-20 Tuition Rates

A non-refundable enrollment fee is due annually at the time of application for enrollment or re-enrollment. This fee is per student and is published in the tuition and fee schedule.

Tuition is per student and varies dependent upon the program enrolled in. An initial payment of 1/10th of the annual tuition is due in advance on May 1st before the school year commences, regardless of the payment schedule chosen. Failure to make the initial tuition payment within a 15-day grace period will result in the forfeiting of enrollment. The initial tuition payment is non-refundable.

Tuition can be paid according to one of the three tuition schedules: annually, by semester or through nine installments (through electronic funds transfer only).

Tuition assistance is available based upon financial need is available. Holy Cross Lutheran School has contracted with an organization called FACTS to provide a confidential, objective assessment of financial need.

Additional Expenses

All Elementary Students will have a school supply list at the start of each school year. In addition, participation in optional programs including Afternoon with the Arts, Sports Programs, and overnight class trips (grades 4-8) will incur additional fees. Participation in PTO fundraisers and Chapel Offerings are also optional.
