Join us for Naomi’s THIRD Birthday Party on Sunday, April 15, 2018, 9:30-10:30am!

Holy Cross Lutheran Church is involved with Comfort Dog Ministry, a program of comfort and mercy of the national Lutheran Church Charities ministries. Our dog provides comfort and ministry to children, youth & adults as a bridge to build relationships, showing joy, mercy, and compassion to people in our congregation and outside the community. Comfort Dogs can go anywhere people are suffering or in pain. We will bring “the comfort, compassion, presence, and proclamation of Jesus Christ to those in the local ministry and its community.” Each dog has a Facebook page, so you can follow their ministry and even send them an email!

Comfort Dog Ministry Team “Handlers”

The national organization’s mission is to bring the mercy, compassion, presence, and proclamation of Jesus Christ to the local ministry and its community. Specially trained Golden Retrievers provide a bridge between the handlers and the person being comforted and served.

For more information or to volunteer, contact Holy Cross “Top Dog,” Kathy Megazzi at

The Holy Cross Comfort Dog ministry has been busy. Along with five other Comfort Dogs, Naomi was deployed to Kokomo, Indiana to comfort those affected by a tornado that swept through the city. Naomi also attended the 50th Anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.’s Community Rally, which was held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Chicago. She attended a 9/11 ceremony in Carmel to remember those that lost their lives 15 years ago and to honor the bravery of the first responders. Naomi also went to Calvary Lutheran School when Holy Cross “Top Dog” Kathy Megazzi was invited there to be a chapel speaker. As can be seen in the picture, Naomi demonstrated “lap” for the school principal. Naomi’s Scripture Verse is Zephaniah 3:17

The LORD your God is with you,
he is mighty to save.
He will take great delight in you,
he will quiet you with his love,
he will rejoice over you with singing.”
